You’re all set to have a cracking St Patrick’s Day celebration with these fun and family-friendly ideas. From festive decorations to creative crafts and tasty treats, there is something for everyone to enjoy. So, grab your green gear and get ready for a day filled with shamrock shenanigans and Irish-inspired fun.

1. Go Green with Decorations

Time to turn your humble abode into a green paradise. Hang up shamrock garlands, blow up green balloons, and sprinkle glittery leprechaun dust everywhere (if you don’t mind the clean-up!). And get the kids to make some DIY decorations like paper shamrocks or leprechaun hats to add a personal touch to your St Patrick’s Day decor.

2. Dress in Green

Dressing in green is a smashing way to get into the St Patrick’s Day spirit. Anything goes! You can even get the kids to make their own accessories like green bracelets or shamrock headbands.

3. Leprechaun Hunt

Time for a spot of detective work. Organise a leprechaun hunt in your garden or around the house. Hide gold coins, chocolate coins, or little trinkets for the kiddos to find, pretending that those mischievous leprechauns left them behind. This activity is bound to keep the little ones entertained as they search high and low for hidden treasures.

5. Bake Irish Treats

Time to whip up some scrumptious Irish treats with the little ones. So, bake shamrock-shaped cookies, Irish soda bread, or rainbow cupcakes.

6. Storytime with Irish Tales

Gather the clan for a cosy storytime session featuring Irish folktales and legends. Choose age-appropriate books about leprechauns, fairies, and Irish mythology to read aloud together.

7. Irish Dance Party

Crank up the tunes and have a lively Irish dance party in your living room. Create a playlist of traditional Irish tunes or lively jigs and reels to dance along to. So, teach the kids some basic Irish dance steps or simply let loose and jig around together. It’s a fantastic way to burn off some energy and have a laugh together as a family.

8. Watch an Irish Movie

Wind down the day with a family movie night featuring Irish-themed films. Choose from classics like “The Secret of Kells” or “Song of the Sea” for younger kids. And opt for family-friendly favourites like “Leap Year” or “P.S. I Love You” for older children. So, snuggle up with some popcorn and enjoy a cinematic journey to the Emerald Isle.
