You know her as House of Harvee on Instagram. You also know her gorge family home is totes worthy of its own Pinterest board. Krystal Giardina shares her fav home styling tips.

The home of Krystal Giardina is simply picture-perfect (check out her Insta feed @houseofharvee… #swoon).
But it’s also a warm and inviting space for her hubby Aldo, and their three children Vienna, Harlow and Avery, to live in and have the freedom to enjoy (and play!).
Krystal discovered her love of interiors and styling after having her two girls (which is where the moniker House of Harvee comes from), so it’s only fitting that she’s created a loving home, an ode to her family, right down to the gorge floral arrangements throughout, by Aldo (@alitaliaflorist).

HOW’S IT CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?
Structurally not much, but design wise, it has changed many times! We built this home in 2011 in our early 20s whilst I was pregnant with Vienna. Most of the furniture has been changed since then, more than once. My personal style has evolved so much over the past nine years.
WHAT’S YOUR CREATIVE BACKGROUND?
I am a hairdresser by trade, I own my own hairdressing business doing wedding and event hair. So while different to interior, I guess the creative aspect is similar in both fields.
WHAT IS YOUR FAV SPACE IN THE HOME?
The “pink room” we call it. The living room with the pink couch! I love the colours and the openness and the wall to wall sheer curtains are such a beautiful feature. However, I also love my master bedroom, and the entrance, and Avery’s room!
HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE?
I would have to say, modern contemporary I think. I definitely love to play on colours, tones and textures!
HOW HAVE CHILDREN CHANGED YOUR STYLE?
I think when kids are involved, we automatically worry that they will ruin something, don’t you think? So I try to not think like that, otherwise I wouldn’t have anything nice in my house! I look at it more in terms of usage and safety. If I get an amazing sofa, will it be safe for the kids to run and play around it, etc. What coffee tables would be good in my space and also double as a racing track for my son’s cars? Also, storage… if I was building again, I would add lots and lots more storage.
WHAT INSPIRED YOUR BIZ?
I love to meet people and share ideas and inspiration. These are such a big part of social media and that’s why I love it! Making it an actual business has been an added bonus.
ANY PRECIOUS POSSESSIONS IN YOUR HOME?
Everything we have is a precious possession – I fall in love with every piece I buy! But no, our custom pink sofa is probably my favourite thing!
WHAT’S YOUR SECRET TO KEEPING YOUR HOME SO TIDY WITH KIDS?
Everything has its own place. So, when the kids are finished playing, they know where things belong and that way toys aren’t just left out all day and night! It keeps me sane to have a tidy home. Don’t get me wrong though, there are toy cars all over the floor most of the time.
HOW DO YOU FEED YOUR CREATIVITY?
Pinterest, Instagram, interior books, magazines, movies! I am a very visual person so I can look through pages and pages of interior for hours.

- Size and scale are very important.
- Less is more, try not to over clutter a room. Just because a space can fit three couches doesn’t mean it needs three.
- Play with textures
- Don’t be afraid to add colour
- Take your time! There is no rush to finish a space, wait for the perfect pieces, it will be worth it!
