If you are a breastfeeding or pumping mama, then you know how important it is to have easy access to the milky goods at all times. You also know that having the right nursing and pumping bra can make or break your feeding journey.
By Mama Disrupt® in partnership with Medela
Did you know that a mama spends about 1800 hours breastfeeding her baby in the first year? Add to that electric breast pumping and in-bra pumping and we’re clocking up a lot of mileage on the liquid gold express.
Which is why mums need comfy, reliable and functional nursing and pumping bras to make #booblife easier. Or even better… one super bra that can do it all.
Say hello to the new Medela 3 in 1 Nursing and Pumping Bra, which has been specially designed for in-bra pumping, electric breast pumps and nursing.
“It is the most comfortable pumping/nursing bra I have worn.” – Sandy Tran [verified MD® reviewer]
It makes hands-free pumping possible, holds bottles and in-bra pumps properly in place, has full drop-down cups for maximum skin-t0-skin contact while nursing, and the Soft Touch Adaptive Stretch™ technology means this bra grows with your changing mum bod.
But because not all bras are created equal, we wanted to know just how fab it really is, so we got our hands on a few Medela 3 in 1 Nursing and Pumping Bras to send out to real mums to try.
Here is what they had to say…
MEDELA 3 IN 1 NURSING AND PUMPING BRA REVIEW: WHAT THE MAMAS ARE SAYING
PHILLIPA BAIN, BREASTFEEDING HER 4-MONTH-OLD
Phillipa has breastfed her baby boy since he was born and she started pumping when he was re-admitted to hospital because of jaundice. To help treat it, Phillipa was triple feeding [breastfeeding, bottle feeding expressed breast milk and formula, plus syringe feeding EBM and formula]. Now, she continues to breastfeed, and gives bottles of EBM when she needs to be away from bubs. Phillipa has been using the Medela 3 in 1 for electric pumping and nursing.
“Being able to swap between pumping and nursing without getting changed into a separate pumping bra is amazing! I wish I had this when my son was first born and we were triple feeding around the clock, it would have made life so much easier than swapping in and out of the strapless/tube style pumping bra after every feed, so that I could pump handsfree. The fabric is soft and comfortable, I would happily wear this all day.”
Would you recommend this bra to a friend? Yes, definitely.
Would you buy this bra? Yes. I am already planning to buy several to go into my hospital bag when I have another baby, to help me through the early triple feeding days if I need to do that again.
SANDY TRAN, BREASTFEEDING HER 4-MONTH-OLD
Exclusive breastfeeding was important to Sandy and something she wanted to achieve as a new mum. But because supply was a challenge, especially nearing cluster feeds at night, Sandy pumped twice a day to give her daughter top up feeds of expressed breast milk. Sandy has been using the Medela 3 in 1 for electric pumping and nursing.
“The bra is so comfortable and so soft. The stretch in the material allows for a perfect fit and it is breathable [including the cups]. The Adaptive Stretch makes it the most comfortable pumping/nursing bra I have worn. “
Would you recommend this bra to a friend? Absolutely. Especially in the early days of breastfeeding or if they intend to pump at work.
Would you buy this bra? Yes.
ERIN McMILLAN, BREASTFEEDING HER 7-MONTH-OLD
Erin experienced a few issues while breastfeeding her baby boy, such as needing to use a nipple shield. And she currently expresses daily to avoid engorgement when her son sleeps longer stretches during the night. Erin has been using the Medela 3 in 1 for electric pumping and nursing.
“This bra has definitely made pumping and breastfeeding easier. It means I have my hands free when pumping to play with baby, or have my cold coffee! Hands-free pumping is so handy at night when I just want to unwind – the bra takes care of the boobs and I get to relax. And it has made breastfeeding easier because I am well supported and comfortable, while also being able the easily get the girls out. The bra fits comfortably and is easy to size with the size guide. The material is soft [no chafing on delicate nips], it is supportive and provides good coverage. It is good quality and comfy – exactly what I want on my breastfeeding journey.”
Would you recommend this bra to a friend? Absolutely, it has made pumping so much easier without having to change bras or butcher old ones.
Would you buy this bra? Yes.
TYNILLE CATANZARITI, BREASTFEEDING HER 6-MONTH-OLD
Tynille started mix feeding and giving her daughter bottle top ups of expressed breast milk and formula from day 3, due to weight gain concerns. And she has continued to express daily since, so her partner can give a bottle every night and have Daddy/daughter bonding time. Tynille has been using the Medela 3 in 1 for electric pumping and nursing.
“The best part of the 3 in 1 bra is that I don’t have to take one off and put another one on at the end of the day to pump. Or if I was out and about and needed to pump in the car it would make life a lot easier.”
Would you recommend this bra to a friend? Yes.
Would you buy this bra? As a pumping bra, yes.
