3 essential ways to look after yourself while caring for others

In Body + Soul, Features, Motherhood, Stories, Wellness by Nicole Fuge

Self-care is all about loving on your body, mind and soul – giving it the attention it deserves. But when you’re looking after tiny humans, it can be hard to find time to look after yourself.

Self-care means different things to different people.

Since becoming a mum, I’ve found a hidden luxury in my skincare routine. It’s a little something that I do for me every day and I look forward to that me-time.

For some, self-care is a dose of retail therapy, indulging in a mani-pedi or message, or treating yo’self to a binge of your fav Netflix show and a block of chocolate.

When it boils down, self-care is all about loving on your body, mind and soul – giving it the love it deserves, inside and out.

So here are three ways to really nourish yourself, because you deserve it, you beautiful human.

1. Take a nap

That’s right, have a good ol’ lay down.

Now I’m not talking about going to sleep at night, no that’s a given, I’m suggesting you steal an hour or two during the day to recharge and reset.

So when you put your bambino down for their sleep, catch some extra Zzzzs yourself, or find a shady spot in the backyard while the kids play with your baby-daddy and have some R+R.

You’ll wake feeling like a whole new person.

2. Create a home spa experience

Now this is pure bliss. After you’ve put the kids down for the night, light some candles, pour yourself a glass of wine or make a herbal tea in your fav mug, and run a bath with all the trimmings.

Bubbles. Bath salts. Essential oils.

Make yourself feel like a f*ckin QUEEN!

3. Hydrate your thirsty bod

We all know we should drink more water, it’s pure magic from Mother Nature and does wonders for your body and keeping you alert.

So if you’re like me and pretty crap at staying hydrated, pick up one of those water bottles with the markers down the side, which prompt you to drink throughout the day.

Easy!
