In Sydney, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to amazing cafes in beautiful venues that serve seriously yummy food. And the best bit? Many of them are family friendly – and some even cater specifically to children in that the venues have been set up with little ones in mind. Hello, The Grounds of Alexandria!
Here we’ve rounded up six of the best cafes in Sydney to celebrate being you.
1 // The Grounds of Alexandria, Alexandria
With indoor and outdoor areas offering both sit-down and more causal eating options, my girls – Willow and Olive – especially love this place for the farm animals and outdoor space they can play in.
In terms of the food, make sure you try the “Our Avocado on toast” with heirloom tomato, coriander and basil salsa, chilli labneh, tahini yoghurt, feta and fresh lime on toast. I also love the Super Green Smoothie.
Address: 7a/2 Huntley St, Alexandria NSW 2015.
I love eating down in Double Bay since the area has undergone its makeover in recent years. There are loads of yummy places to eat and the vibe is lovely and chilled. And Little Jean also ticks all of these boxes. The set-up of the café is great to enjoy yummy food as you watch passers-by go about their Sunday strolls.
If you need a menu suggestion, the shakshuka eggs are seriously delicious!
Address: 1/1 Kiaora Rd, Double Bay NSW 2028.
3 // Black Star Pastry, Rosebery
If you haven’t sampled the delectable cakes from Black Star Pastry then you haven’t lived. They are TO-DIE-FOR.
With layers of almond dacquoise, rose-scented cream, watermelon, strawberries and garnished with pistachios and dried rose petals, once you try the Strawberry Watermelon Cake you’ll never look back.
Address: C1/85-113 Dunning Ave, Rosebery NSW 2018.
This option is a little more casual than some of the others on this list but the menu – and bakery – is really great. You could even grab a few things and take them to a nearby park, if you wish.
Everyone in my family is a big fan of the spelt berry scones! Trust me, they will not disappoint.
Address: 67 Frenchmans Rd, Randwick NSW 2031.
5 // Blackwood Pantry, Cronulla
I love the interiors at this café – it’s modern, industrial and relaxed and comfy at the same time. And the menu is equally as impressive.
With lots of breakfast faves on the menu you won’t be disappointed. I’m a fan of the “Quinoa Falafel Bowl” with quinoa falafel, roasted cauliflower, avocado, labneh, rocket, tomato chutney, poached egg.
Address: 5/33 Surf Lane, Cronulla NSW 2230.
With a cute corner location in Chippendale, this lovely café is charming, casual and somewhat of a Mecca for coffee and pastry lovers.
We never visit this spot without stocking up on some delicious sourdough bread to take home.
Address: 206 Cleveland St, Chippendale NSW 2008.
