It is so important for our kids to understand the rich and diverse cultures of the First Peoples of Australia. And NAIDOC Week serves as a reminder to share and talk about it.
It’s no secret kids love to learn through stories, and these are just a few of the many great kid’s books about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
1. Alfie’s Big Wish by David Hardy
Learn the story of Alfie, a young Aboriginal boy who dreams of becoming a fire starter. It is a beautiful book about the importance of culture and tradition.
2. Our Home, Our Heartbeat by Adam Briggs
Now this book is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. It features vibrant illustrations and rhymes that will capture the imagination of young readers.
