5 Of The Best Homemade Body Scrubs For Self-Care
1. Energising Coffee Scrub
½ cup olive oil (or coconut oil)
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup ground organic coffee
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Blend all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.
2. Antioxidant Green Tea Scrub
1 cup organic sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons brewed green tea
Mix sugar and oil in a bowl. Gradually add the tea until it resembles the texture of wet sand. For added texture and scent, sprinkle a teaspoon of loose leaf green tea through the scrub. As it is made with water, this scrub will not keep.
3. Rich Honey and Oatmeal Scrub
1 cup organic sugar
½ cup oats
¼ cup honey
¼ cup coconut oil (or olive oil)
Combine all ingredients to reach your favourite consistency. Add more oil to make smoother or more sugar to make it courser.
Option – add a few drops of your favourite essential oil, such as lavender or tea tree. As this has fresh produce in it, this scrub will not keep.
4. Buttery Almond and Avocado Scrub
¼ cup almonds (ground)
¾ cup oatmeal (ground)
1 avocado, mashed
Mix all ingredients together and scrub away for nourished, soft skin. As this has fresh ingredients in it, this scrub will not keep.
5. Zesty Sugar Scrub
1 cup organic sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
¼ cup olive oil
Mix ingredients together to the consistency you prefer. Store in an airtight container.
For best results with any of the homemade body scrubs: have a hot bath or shower, scrub for 15 seconds paying special attention to rough spots such as heels and knees. Rinse off thoroughly and pat dry. Then moisturise for silky smooth skin. Enjoy!
