Though it sounds too good to be true, there are indeed certain foods that can both elevate mood and give an extra sense of happiness as you go about your day. AND they are healthy. Win-win.

So, if you are looking for a little extra pep in your step, some more zing to your mama-ing, here are five healthy and super-yummo snacks that can also boost your happiness.

1. Pumpkin Seeds

These little seeds can help to boost your hormone levels which will help regulate your mood. Have them on hand in the car or in your handbag. They are also the perfect way to curb your hunger.

2. Berries

These sweet delicious fruits certainly pack a punch. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and the list goes on. These bright little gems of colour are rich in antioxidants, which have anti-ageing properties, and remind of summer days. Great as on-the-go snacks or just on their own, you can add to smoothies, have on top of breakfast or with melted dark chocolate for a cheeky dessert.

3. Nuts

Over recent years, nuts have gained a good reputation and have become increasing popular… and with good reason. Almonds and walnuts help with hormonal balances and some studies suggest they help with anxiety and improve memory. These are great to eat on their own, pair them with yoghurt and fruit or get creative and make some bliss balls.

4. Dark Chocolate

Let’s be honest who doesn’t love chocolate. Dark chocolate contains a unique natural substance which triggers a sense of euphoria that is similar to the feeling of being in love!  Enjoy with a cup of tea for a snack or dessert.

5. Kombucha

This is a fermented tea which taste like a nice fizzy drink without the nasties. I also find it wards of sugar cravings. You can find them in your local supermarket, some cafes and health food stores, or if you are feeling ambitious try making it yourself.
