On a cold Winter’s day [or any old day, for that matter] there’s nothing better than curling up with a freshly brewed cup of herbal tea.
As well as soothing your soul, there are also many health benefits to be found in sipping you favourite herbal cuppa.
Because, mama, who has time to get sick? We got you!
Seven herbal teas to help promote winter wellness:
1. Ginger
Not just good for settling upset tummies, ginger can also help to encourage circulation, boost the immune system and help to relieve fevers caused by colds and infections.
2. Cinnamon
It smells divine – need we say more? Well, mama, we will! Cinnamon is high in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties (good for a host of reasons), and has anti-microbial, antibiotic, anti-fungal and anti-viral agents (making it great for fighting infections and viruses). And if that’s not enough, it also supports healthy circulation!
3. Peppermint
A good support against pesky sinus and tension headaches, peppermint can be great to clear stuffy heads during winter, too.
4. Licorice Root
Found to help soothe sore throats, licorice root tea can also aid in clearing a runny nose.
5. Thyme
With anti-bacterial properties, thyme tea can help to relieve coughs and sore throats. In addition, it has been found to help clear mucous and congestion associated with chest complaints.
6. Yarrow
Another herbal tea that helps support circulation (your cold fingers and toes will thank you), yarrow tea can also aid your body in fighting a fever.
7. Elderflower
With anti-viral properties, elderflower tea can help support your immune system and support the body to fight cold symptoms such as sinus and ear congestion.
Make sure you check with your doctor before changing your diet or health regime. And be sure to check the recommended daily amounts of all herbal teas.
