Ever heard of the saying you can’t pour from an empty cup? It’s true, mama bear.

1. Journal for 20 minutes

If you’re struggling with overwhelm, writing in a free-flowing, stream-of-consciousness style will help release any below-the-surface feelings and reduce emotional tension in your body.

It’s also a great way to reflect on life and how you can cultivate more flow into your everyday.

2. Listen to uplifting music

Play some feel-good music.

Be it a motivational song, a tune you loved in high school or a catchy pop single that will get you smiling, dancing around and (maybe) singing at the top of your lungs.

3. Get colouring

Not just for your little one, investing in an adult colouring-in book is a seriously epic way to reduce anxiety, enter a meditative state and let your inner child run wild.

Take your time with this activity and get your child involved for a deeper bonding session.

4. Meditate for 10 minutes

If meditating on your own doesn’t seem to be working, downloading a guided meditation app is a great way to deepen your practice.

Choose your medi, close your eyes, breathe deeply, focus on your breath, and let go.

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again… you can’t pour from an empty cup.

5. Go outdoors

Escaping outdoors to a local park or going on a nature walk has massive benefits to the body and brain. And it instantly releases a tonne of feel-good vibes as you connect closer to the calming sounds of Mama Nature.

Whip out the pram, throw on the Nike kicks and get outside.

6. Be kind to yourself

This is perhaps one of the most important self-care tips of all.

Catch yourself when you are being unkind to you, and begin to notice your thoughts and inner dialogue.

The kinder you are to yourself, the better you’ll feel.

Remember, you’re doing a brilliant job and you don’t need to be perfect for anyone.

You go mama!
