In Features, Spaces, Stories by Nicole Fuge

When it comes to decorating a child’s bedroom, you want to get the perfect mix of their personality, form and function as well as making a statement with a unique interior.

Here we’ve turned to the most stylish mamas on Instagram to see their tips, tricks and best ideas for decorating a little one’s bedroom.

1 // Neon lights

Light the way in your little one’s room with a cool neon light. As well as looking mighty fine, it provides an ambient light source for wind-down time as opposed to having the main light on.

2 // Rainbow wall hanging

Everything is better with a rainbow in view. This rainbow wall hanging adds the perfect pop of colour. And, more importantly, as well as looking good, wall hangings are a great way to add to both the sound and thermal insulation of a room.

3 // A feature bed

Make bedtime an endless adventure by choosing a feature bed like this house shaped one. You can shop around for something or if you’re feeling particularly handy, they aren’t that hard to DIY if you have some craft skills.

4 // A grown-up canvas

Both timeless and elegant, if you make the base of your child’s room neutral and grown-up it will see them through to their teenager years (and maybe beyond). All you’ll need to do is update the decor every now and then.

5 // A book wall

By now we’ve all seen feature bookshelves that are very much part of the decor of a room. Want to take this idea one step further? Or encourage a love of books in your little one? Say hello to a book wall! A work of art in its own right, a wall of books adds a lovely, worldly and whimsical feel to a room.

6 // A hanging chair

Forget the seat and table combo! Why not pop a hanging chair in your child’s room? They look great and offer the perfect spot to sit and chat or read together.
